VIBER

If you are seeking for alternative to Whatsapp, Skype etc then Viber is an excellent choice. With Viber you can send messages, make calls to your friends, for free all around the globe and you can even make video calls.

Setting up

After installing the app you will be prompted to enter your phone number and give access to your phone contact. You will also receive a code which you must enter to activate your account, this is for verification purposes.

Once you are done setting up, you can check your contact list to see which of your contacts also use Viber and you can invite contacts who don't use it.

Messaging features

Once you finish setting up Viber you can use it like most other messaging apps. You can start sending text messages, short audio massage, photos and videos from your library, your location, and emotion icons.

The user interface is just like other apps, with balloons for each of the person you are chatting with and you can set up group chat for up to 100 persons. You can create an audio massage by touching the microphone, then holding a button in the bottom center to record

What makes Viber better than most messaging apps is the ability to make both audio and video calls, this it can do even on a 3G connection. And of course you don’t have to change your phone number Viber make use of your regular phone number.

One smart app feature I like about Viber is that, it automatically saves any photo and video messages you receive to your camera roll. If you wish to save your data, you can turn off this feature when you are not connected to Wi-Fi, and when you do you can turn it back on, any unsaved messages will be saved at that point.

The HD audio quality of calls are excellent in fact you won’t know you are making the call via a phone app. Plus if you want to avoid excessive long distant call charges viber is your number one choice.

If you want to call other people who are not using Viber, you can do that by adding money on your Viber Out. Once you have credit in your Viber Out you can call anybody anywhere in the world including landlines. Another smart feature of this app is that, it let you know before any call to any countries how much you are going to spend.

Downside

But one major drawback of Viber is the limited used! Not everyone uses it. Though it has over two hundred million users globally yet that is still limited, So that means you have to convince your friends and love ones to download it too.

And hopefully in future update the Public Chat features will allow users to participate in the chat not just be an onlooker, this will make Viber user really join in the fun.

Conclusion

Viber certainly offers a reliable alternative to Skype and the like. Overall Viber works well, and it an excellent massaging app.
